Six Senses Yao Noi, Six reason to stay here

Arriving at Six Senses Yao Noi

After a scenic boat trip from Phuket through emerald Andaman waters the team at Six Senses Yao Noi greets us with warm smiles and cool lemongrass scented towels on arrival.

Complimentary ice cream bar, ever changing views of Phang Nga Bay & hornbills swooping through the treetops. These are just some of the reasons why we love Six Senses Yao Noi. It’s impossible to list all the reason why a stay at Six Senses Yao Noi is so memorable so we’ve narrowed it down to our top 6.

Six Senses Koh Yao Noi

1. Sustainability & Social Responsibility

It’s not just pretty looks at Six Senses there’s a heart of sustainability and care in everything they do. We were not just just taken by the picture perfect location or impeccable service. It was reassuring to know a stay at Six Senses also supports the local community and minimises travel footprints.

During our stay we took a tour of Six Senses sustainable features & soon learnt that this was no small side project, the team at six senses are committed to sustainability. Here’s some of the initiatives they have implemented at Yao Noi.

Water filtration Station

They produce & bottle their water onsite using reverse osmosis, no plastic bottles here!

Organic Gardens, Mushroom hut & farm

There are 2 organic gardens and a mushroom hut on site which supplies the restaurants with fresh veggies and herbs daily. They also have a farm for hens & ducks where can you collect your own fresh eggs for breakfast.

Earth Lab

At their earth lab they…

  • Create natural insect repellents
  • Melt left over candles to make new ones
  • Crush glass to used in building materials & decorations at the resort
  • Collect and donate aluminium to hospitals for prosthetics
Timber recycling

Using recycled timbers from renovations to create new furniture and nests for the local Hornbill population.

Composting of all organic waste

Organic waste from the restaurants is also composted and used as fertiliser

Waste water treatment & recycling

Waste water is organically treated then used in irrigation around the resort.

Alchemy bar

House made natural and customised products for unique spa treatments

Along with these onsite projects they have also implemented drinking water treatment facilities in neighbouring communities.

2. The Villa

Upon entering the gates of our villa we steped into our own private sanctuary, a two level tree house nestled amongst the lush hillside with views of Phang Nga Bay islands as well as a private infinity pool to top it off.

3. The Views at the Hilltop

Undoubtedly the crown jewel of the resort is The Hilltop, as you walk up the entrance an unforgettable panoramic view of the bays limestone casts reveals itself across a glassy infinity pool. It is certainly the perfect spot to watch the colours of the bay transform from emerald to orange and purple as the tropical evening sets in. Bookings are also available for a private sunrise breakfast. Couldn’t help but think this would be a great way to propose to your love one!

On our first evening at the resort after the sun had set and with the last fading pink glow a full moon revealed itself from behind the limestone pinnacles. The views at the Hilltop are ever-changing and stunning at any time of day however our favourite time was sunrise.

4. Activities

There is plenty to do at Six Senses Yao Noi from island hopping tours, water sports on the bay or enjoying a movie night beachside. Our highlights were exploring the island on a Tuk Tuk tour and a full moon kayak adventure.

5. Personalised guest experience

Six senses have managed to blend the perfect vibe of laid back luxury. From arrival to departure your personal Guest Experience Maker aka GEM is there to assure your stay is worry free.

6. Dining

During our stay we experienced exceptional international & Thai cuisines in the different restaurants at the resort but our favourite was the seafood bbq at the Dining room. The complimentary house made ice-creams available all day 🙂 and of course the incredible breakfasts are also worthy of mention.

Our stay at Six Senses Yao Noi was certainly a memorable experience and we hope that more hotels and travel companies around the world can begin to implement sustainable practices regularly.
